Richards and Souness went to head to head with each other over the defending for Man City's second goal

Graeme Souness and Micah Richards went head to head together in a heated argument over the defending for Manchester City's second goal. Pep Guardiola's side cruised to an easy 2-0 win at Old Trafford after an Eric Bailly own goal and Bernardo Silva goal in the first half condemned United to no wins at home in the league since the victory over Newcastle United back in September. In truth, Man City barely looked like they had to get out of first gear, with United's defensive display concerning to say the least. The away side's second goal in particular raised eyebrows as Aaron Wan-Bissaka failed to close down Joao Cancelo whose cross found goalscorer Silva as David De Gea dealt with it poorly. However both Souness and Richards disagreed on the defending in the build up to the goal. Souness believed that the full-back was too slow to react when it came to closing down Cancelo, who had all the time in the world to pick out a cross. He said: "He should be sprinting out and stopping the cross." Meanwhile, the former Man City full back highlighted Bruno Fernandes' involvement and said the lack of support from the midfielder was a disadvantage for Wan-Bissaka. "He's scared. He knows he hasn't got help from Fernandes." said Richards. Roy Keane, who remained surprisingly calm during the discussion, expressed his anger after the two had finished and was baffled by some of the decisions in the team. In a heated rant he claimed that "If Ole walked in here, I would grab him by the neck and ask him 'why are you playing Fred?'" Related links:
