Paris Saint-Germain's victory in Le Classique on Sunday, when they comfortably beat Marseille 3-0 at the Parc des Princes, was tainted by star man Neymar sustaining a fractured metatarsal as well as a sprained ankle in a double whammy blow.
The most expensive player ever is in danger of missing PSG's crucial game against Real Madrid in the second leg of their Round of 16 knockout tie. He would of course be a huge miss for PSG despite the other talent in the squad.
One of Neymar's opponents from the weekend, Jordan Amavi, who you may remember from his brief spell at Aston Villa before a horrific leg break, has come out and blamed Neymar for picking up the injury.
He told RMCfollowing a feisty encounter with PSG: "We played normally against Neymar. I found him looking for things [fouls].
"I am just telling you what I saw on the pitch. He waited for us to press and then released the ball at the last minute.
"What did he expect? Personally, I do not know, I think he was looking for things though. He reaped a little of what he sows.
"Everybody knows that he has the talent, but he waited for us to press before releasing the ball."
Neymar's style of play will always draw fouls, that is the nature of being a skilful winger. And with that comes the risk of picking up bumps and bruises along the way, but to outright blame the player for getting injured is arguably a tad harsh.
