Manchester United could beat City to another signing this month, but they might regret it

Could Mourinho regret his decision?

“I don’t see myself playing in a country where it’s cold.”

Manchester United are among several clubs, including Manchester City, who are chasing Jean Michael Seri, according to Sky Sports. The Nice midfielder is wanted after impressing for the past couple of seasons in France. He almost joined Barcelona last summer, but the Catalan club pulled out of the deal after previously agreeing to pay £35m for the 26-year-old.

United need midfield reinforcements as they will lose the retiring Michael Carrick at the end of the season, and they are uncertain if Marouane Fellaini, who has six months left on his contract, will extend his stay at the club. Seri has a release clause in his contract that allows him to leave for £33m this month, and this has reportedly put United and other clubs on alert.

However, the Ivory Coast midfielder may prefer a move to a warmer place than Manchester. Seri suffers from chilblains, a condition that can cause painful and itchy swellings on the skin in cold weather.

“When it’s cold I need special treatment,” he said in the past when asked about a potential move away from Nice.

“I don’t see myself playing in a country where it’s cold. I hurt everywhere, and I struggle to train.”

He’s also only five-foot-five, which doesn’t make him an ideal fit for Jose Mourinho’s team of giants. However, according to reports, United are said to be interested in signing Seri this month.
