Manchester City’s Under-23s side woke up and chose violence after arriving to their game against Liverpool with a sneaky dig.
At senior level the two teams have been the best sides in England, winning many of the trophies on offer and regularly competing head-to-head.
Liverpool won the first domestic trophy of the season after beating Chelsea in the Carabao Cup in February however last season was a dominant one for Man City.
Although they were crowned Treble winners, the Citizens actually won five trophies in total over the course of 2023. They won the: Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.
But eyebrows were raised when City rocked up to Liverpool’s training ground in the first team bus, with the Daily Mail reporting that Liverpool’s Under-23 team felt that their rivals attempted to fuel the rivalry between the clubs.
Despite their attempts to fan the flames it would be Liverpool who ended up running out as winners, beating City 2-0.
Trent Kone-Doherty gave the Reds the lead on the hour mark before Rhys Williams made sure of the points in the 76th minute to take the bragging rights.
Meanwhile, back at senior level, the two are involved with Arsenal in the race to lift the Premier League title at the end of the season.
