Liverpool want to offer striker Roberto Firmino a contract for the rest of his career

Liverpool want to ward off potential future interest in Roberto Firmino by offering him a new contract, according to The Telegraph. There is nothing unusual about that. What is startling, though, is that the proposed new deal will commit him to Anfield for the rest of his career in a kind of extreme reactionary move to Philippe Coutinho's departure. Firmino has been a hit since joining the Reds from Hoffenheim in the summer of 2015, scoring 37 goals in 199 appearances.
