Amorim had emerged as the new favourite to replace Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool may have suffered another setback in their quest to appoint a replacement for Jurgen Klopp.
After Xabi Alonso – their initial number one choice – confirmed he would be staying at Bayer Leverkusen, the Reds turned their attention to Ruben Amorim.
The Sporting boss has impressed over in Portugal and the 39-year-old is admired by clubs across Europe.
Amorim is the bookies’ favourite to replace Klopp at Anfield however according to The Athletic, he is unlikely to make the move and another Premier League club is instead weighing up an approach.
They have reported that West Ham United have held talks to appoint the young boss as a replacement for David Moyes.
West Ham fans want change
West Ham suffered an embarrassing 5-2 defeat to Crystal Palace just days after they were knocked out of the Europa League by Leverkusen and fans have called for Moyes to replace.
His contract expires in the summer however the Scot revealed back in February that the club had offered him a new contract.
Julen Loeptegui is also another name being considered by West Ham if they choose to part ways with Moyes in the summer.
Tehe Hammers are eighth in the Premier League table and face Liverpool this weekend.
