Sir Jim Ratcliffe has seen enough
Manchester United are reportedly making preparations to find a new manager in the summer after they only just avoided defeat in the FA Cup semi final.
It looked as if the Red Devils would cruise through to the final after racing into a 3-0 lead but Championship side Coventry City fought back to make it 3-3, including a late penalty.
Coventry then thought they had won it in the 120th minute only for the goal to be ruled out for the narrowest of offsides, taking the game to penalties.
Luckily for United and Erik ten Hag their blushes were spared as Coventry missed two efforts from 12 yards out and advanced to the final, where they will play neighbours Manchester City.
United looking for new manager
Sir Jim Ratcliffe made it in time to watch United make hard work of getting to the final after recording a personal best time at the London Marathon but would’ve no doubt felt more tired watching his side.
And according German outlet Kicker’s Georg Holzner, Ratcliffe has grown tired of Ten Hag and has already sounded out a replacement in the summer.
They reported that the INEOS owner had spoken to Thomas Tuchel about becoming the manager at Old Trafford, with the German leaving Bayern Munich at the end of this season.
Tuchel and Ratcliffe have some sort of connection with the former Chelsea boss in charge at Stamford Bridge at the time the British billionaire made an offer to buy the west London club in 2022 – losing out to Todd Boehly’s consortium.
Ten Hag doesn’t want to leave
Despite calls for him to lose his job, Ten Hag has no plans to walk away from Old Trafford.
In fact, The Mirror have said the only way the Dutchman will leave if he receives no assurances over his role from INEOS.
He has one year left on his deal and some have even suggested he could return to Ajax.
