Liverpool remain optimistic that they will be able to complete a stunning attempt to sign Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe is set to become a free agent at the end of the season after refusing to negotiate a new deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
Al Hilal made a world record bid of £257m to sign the World Cup winner in the summer while the Frenchman continues to be linked with Real Madrid.
L'Equipe have claimed that the possibility of Mbappe signing a contract extension isn't entirely out of the question however added that Liverpool are still confident they could persuade the 24-year-old to move to Anfield.
According to the French outlet, the Reds have "never broken contact with the player's entourage" since a failed attempt to sign Mbappe back in 2017.
Mbappe chose PSG instead of Liverpool at the time but the Merseyside club believe that they always have a chance of signing the forward.
They added that it would be a "surprise" to see Mbappe at Liverpool next summer and it still looks as if the Frenchman will join Madrid following the expiration of his contract.
Jurgen Klopp's side aren't short of goals this season however having Mbappe added to their attacking ranks would elevate them to a new level.
