Huddersfield’s Aaron Mooy shows off gruesome knee injury

Mooy was in agony on the pitch

There’s good news and bad news for Huddersfield’s Aaron Mooy.

The good news is that Mooy didn’t suffer any ligament damage in his side’s 4-1 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday.

The bad news is that his knee looks like something from a horror movie.

Mooy was stretchered off with fifteen minutes remaining at John Smith’s Stadium and supporters immediately feared the worst about their playmaker who had just set up the Terriers’ third goal of the afternoon.

The assist was Mooy’s third of the season and fans were filled with concern after the 27-year-old let out a blood-curdling scream following a challenge with Lewis Cook.

The Australia international was stretchered off and replaced by Philip Billing but Huddersfield boss David Wagner confirmed after the game that Mooy did not suffer any serious injuries.

While no ligament damage was sustained, we wouldn’t expect to see Mooy back in action too soon because his knee has definitely seen better days.

Mooy took to Instagram on Monday morning to show off the effects of the challenge and the emojis he included basically tell you everything you need to know.

Mooy was signed by Manchester City in 2016 but never made an appearance for Pep Guardiola as he was immediately loaned out to Huddersfield for their 2016/17 Championship campaign.

Wagner was so impressed with the midfielder that he signed him on a permanent basis in the summer and Mooy has since rewarded that faith with four goals and three assists in the Premier League.
