GMP to investigate reports of bullets sent to Oldham owner and brother

Greater Manchester Police have begun an investigation into reports that bullets and threatening letters were allegedly sent to Oldham Athletic owner Abdallah Lemsagam and his brother on Tuesday. Sky Sports News reported that a handwritten letter, along with a bullet, was sent to the Latics' owner and was signed by ‘The Anonymous Group’. Lemsagam's brother, who is the club's sporting director, was also reported to have received a similar letter and bullet. The Oldham owner is hugely unpopular with supporters and is in talks to sell the club after he released a statement on Tuesday (January 11).

He said: "I can see that my ownership has caused unrest within the club and the fans. I want the best for the club and I think the best for the club is that it is now passed on to new owners. My team is speaking to certain credible bidders and I am happy to speak to others."

Following the reports of the message sent to Lemsagam, GMP released a statement to confirm they are investigating the allegations. A spokesperson said: "We are aware of a situation involving a report of malicious communications at Oldham Athletic Football Club. Our investigation is in its very early stages and our inquiries are ongoing."
