Gary Neville hits out at UK government ahead of World Cup final

Gary Neville criticised the UK government once again in the build up to the World Cup final. This year's World Cup has been one of the most controversial to date given Qatar's appalling human rights records, which includes the treatment of migrant workers in the country. Neville, who has been criticised for working for local broadcaster BeIN Sports throughout the tournament, has been vocally critical of the UK government over the years. Speaking about the treatment of migrant workers on ITV, Neville said that while it is vital to call out the issues in Qatar, we must also look closer to home to see how workers in the UK are being treated after supporting the ongoing strikes in the country. https://twitter.com/JamesRWithers/status/1604486586317561862 He said: "It’s abhorrent and we should detest low pay, detest low pay and poor working conditions and that is something we can never accept in this region or in any region. "It is just worth mentioning in our country, there is a country that is demonising rail workers, ambulance workers and terrifyingly, nurses. So in our country, we have to look at workers rights but certainly where football goes now, we have to pick up on worker’s rights wherever we go because people have to be equally treated. "We can’t have people being paid a pittance to work, people in accommodation which is unsavoury and disgusting, we can’t have that. It shouldn’t happen with the wealth that exists and it shouldn’t happen in our country where nurses are having to fight for an extra pound or £2." Related links:
