The club have slapped a hefty price on seats for the David and Goliath showdown.

Non-league club Tamworth FC have sparked a backlash from football fans after announcing the ticket prices for their upcoming FA Cup showdown with Tottenham.

Tamworth and Tottenham – clubs four divisions apart – are set to take each other on next month in the third round of the historic competition.

The game will take place at the CompareTheBuild Community Stadium on Sunday 12th January 2025, with kick off scheduled for 12:30pm.

While the match will be a huge occasion for Tamworth fans, many are up in arms over the £42 price that it will cost to attend.

In a post shared on X, Tamworth revealed the information about how to buy the tickets through a graphic.

Sponsors can purchase from December 29, club members December 30, and general sale is yet to be confirmed. Accompanying this, they shared the caption: “Please read the above information regarding the first set of criteria for our Emirates FA Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur FC.”

While many have directed their rage at the club, some supporters are pointing the finger at the Football Association and insisting one-off price hikes will become more common after the decision was made to scrap replays.

One fan commented: “Imagine fleecing your 1500 loyal fans who have been to most of your games this season with these prices £30 is plenty for the loyalists. £42 is fine for those who want a 1 off game. Look after your loyal fans, they kept attended even at Step 3. Football is nothing without them.”

Another wrote: “Everyone going after Tamworth for ridiculous prices but no one’s remembering that this is what happens when you scrap replays.”

One other X user tweeted: “Simply shameful, especially the concession pricing. Yeah no replay but surely they’d make enough from tv, a full house, potential goodwill etc to not warrant this.”

“How short sighted are these prices,” commented another. “A chance to repay and respect the fans that go and support you every week, and instead you release this monstrosity. Shameful.”

The most expensive seat for an adult in the main stand will set fans back £42 for the encounter with Spurs, while a ticket for a child under ten in the same area will cost £29.

Over 66s will pay a slightly discounted £37 and under 17s £34.

In comparison, the Staffordshire venue holds 4,963 and seats around 500. They usually charge £18-£21 to watch a match, but appear to have charged extra for the Tottenham game.

That’s compared to regular matchday prices of £20 for an adult and £4 for an under ten.

Some fans have accused the club of ripping them off and profiteering from a high-profile game.

Tamworth is one of the lowest teams left in the competition, as they currently play in the Vanarama National League, after winning and promoting from the National League North Division last season. Spurs are currently four divisions above the Lambs.
