Liverpool concerned youngster Rhian Brewster could be set to leave this summer

Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster could be set to leave the Merseyside club for Germany.

The 18-year-old striker's contract at Anfield expires in the summer and it's claimed at least two Bundesliga sides are interested in him. The Telegraph report Borussia Mönchengladbach are particularly keen to sign him, but also add that they may face competition from RB Leipzig, too. The same report adds that Liverpool are frustrated at the prospect losing the striker who, despite his age, is eager to play more first team football. Jürgen Klopp is said to have promised Brewster the chance to play in Liverpool's first-team during pre-season, although his chances of replacing one of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane in Premier League or Champions League games appears highly unlikely. Reports of a move to Germany follow claimed from earlier in the month that Brendan Rodgers was considering a move to take him to Celtic. Now though, it appears Germany is a more likely destination. Should he move to the Bundesliga, Brewster would follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho - one of his teammates in England's Under 17 World Cup winning squad from last year. Despite being highly rated by Manchester City, Sancho opted to leave The Etihad for Borussia Dortmund last summer. He recently became the first Englishman to score for the club last month and some reports have suggested Gareth Southgate is considering him for a shock call up for this summer's World Cup. Liverpool play their final league game of the season on Sunday when they host Brighton at Anfield. Klopp is expected to rest some of his first team squad ahead of the Champions League final meeting with Real Madrid in Kiev later this month. Should Mo Salah play, he has the chance to claim a Premier League goalscoring record for himself having already equalled the existing record jointly held by Alan Shearer, Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo.
