André Ayew was sent off in the first-half in Ghana's must-win game against Comoros
André Ayew was controversially sent off in Ghana's final group game of the Africa Cup of Nations against Comoros on Tuesday night.
In a must-win match for the Black Stars, the former Swansea City man was shown a straight red for a challenge on Comoros' keeper, Salim Ben Boina in a 50/50 contest.
The island nation were 1-0 up at the time after El Fardou Ben Nabouhane's historic fourth-minute strike had given them a shock lead.

As Ghana began to mount the pressure to find an equaliser, Ayew then rushed through on goal to try to poke the ball home, however when challenging for the ball, appeared to catch Ben Boina with his studs.

After a lengthy delay, in which the footage of the challenge was looked over several times, Traore came to the conclusion that the Ghana captain's tackle warranted a straight red card, leaving Ghana to play with 10-men for the best part of 70 minutes.
