After Unai Emery arrived at the Emirates in the summer, he picked Ramsey as one of several captains of his new side.
And while both parties initially seemed close to agreeing a four-year deal, that's no longer the case. But Emery doesn't believe that the uncertainty over Ramsey's future will hinder his performances in the coming months.
"I don’t think the situation will affect his performances," Emery said last Friday. "I just want to give him and the players the most stability so that they can be focused only on the games. I spoke about this situation in the pre-season and now it is the same.
"I have known and I’m going to know this same situation again because the football career for a player is very short.
