Football fans thoroughly enjoy Bob Bradley’s pronunciation of Alan Pardew’s surname

'He made it so glamorous'

Simon Lloyd

Saturday was a big day for Bob Bradley.

With his Swansea City side without a win since he took charge of the club, the visit of fellow strugglers Crystal Palace – on a run of five defeats in their last five league outings – represented a real chance to start moving in the right direction.

In the end, they got there. Having thrown away a 3-1 lead to trail 4-3 as the game reached stoppage time, a couple of Fernando Llorente goals turned the result on its head. This dramatic last-gasp win, coupled with Sunderland’s defeat at Anfield, was enough to lift the Swans off the bottom of the Premier League table by a point.

But while the majority of talk after the match centred on the significance of such a result for Bradley and Alan Pardew, the American’s post-match interview – more specifically his pronunciation of ‘Pardew’ – proved to be a talking point in itself.

And viewers weren’t disappointed…

Man born and raised on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean pronounces something differently to us lot. Who’d have thought it? At least it seems to have added to man’s popularity.
