Mbappe turned down a move to Real Madrid in favour of staying at PSG

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has said that Kylian Mbappe “must have changed his dream” and is “no longer the Mbappe I wanted to bring to Madrid” after he chose to stay at Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe turned down Madrid in favour of signing a bumper contract at the French giants, despite initially agreeing to personal terms.

The terms of the Frenchman’s contract have become well known in recent weeks, with the forward estimated to be earning in the region of £600,000 a week.

No sign of love lost between Perez and Mbappe

During an interview with Spanish TV channel El Chiringuito on Wednesday, Perez gave his account of the Mbappe saga and his current thoughts on the 23-year-old.

“His dream was to play at Real Madrid,” Perez said.

“We wanted to do it last August and they didn’t let him leave, he kept saying he wanted to play at Madrid and 15 days before that changed the situation.

“This is not the Mbappe I wanted to bring, he is another one, who must have changed his dream.

“He changes, he is offered other things, he is pressured and he is already another footballer.”

Perez stressed though that no matter how big of a signing Mbappe would have been, nobody is bigger than Real Madrid.

“There is no-one at Real Madrid above the club. He is a great player, he can win more than others, but it is a collective sport and we have values and principles that we cannot change.”

LaLiga file complaints against Man City and PSG

LaLiga have recently launched another claim against PSG and Manchester City, filing a complaint to UEFA about the two sides potentially breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.

The Spanish league’s chief, Javier Tebas, accused the two European heavyweights of “destroying the ecosystem of European football.”
