Pérez doesn’t seem keen on bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Madrid

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez looks to have ruled out any chance of the club making a move to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club with a brutal response.

Ronaldo is looking to leave Manchester United after they failed to qualify for the Champions League last season but has struggled to find a move away.

Interest in the 37-year-old has died down in recent weeks but his future has led to some speculation about him making a return to Madrid before the end of the transfer window.

The forward is Los Blancos’ all-time highest goalscorer with 450 goals in 438 games but, despite his incredible achievements, Madrid president Pérez isn’t keen to bring him back.

When asked by fans if he would consider re-signing Ronaldo, the president gave a brutal response: “Sign Cristiano? Again? He’s 38 years old,” getting the age of his former striker while doing so.

Ronaldo featured in United’s opening day defeat

Ronaldo missed a large majority of pre-season while he focused on sorting out his future but has since returned and was named on the bench for United’s opening day defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Erik ten Hag opted to bring the Portuguese forward on in the second half, by which time United were already 2-0 down, and the Dutchman admitted he was wrong to not start him from the off.

“It is clear to see [that in] the second half we were better in midfield with Eriksen down and Ronaldo up,” he said.

“We created and Rashford had two good chances, it is a shame we did not score.”

United travel to Brentford on Saturday before they take on fierce rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford.
