Feyenoord teammates have to be dragged apart in training ground altercation

Shades of Bowyer vs. Dyer

There’s clearly no love lost between Sven van Beek and Steven Berghuis.

The Feyenoord teammates had to be separated following a training ground bust-up on Wednesday afternoon.

An aggressive shoulder charge from Van Beek in a training game sent Berghuis sprawling to the ground but he popped right back up and looked for instant revenge in the form of a kick towards his colleague’s legs.

A scuffle then ensued which resulted in the players’ teammates separating them but Van Beek looked very eager to get his hands on the forward, who obviously didn’t appreciate the wholehearted challenge.

It’s not the first time that a fight has broken out between Feyenoord teammates in recent years.

In January 2016, you might remember that Miquel Nelom and Tonny Vilhena clashed with each other during a drill at a Feyenoord winter training camp in Albufeira.

The sight of teammates trying to tear strips off one another is a rare one, with the most well-known example of such probably being the on-pitch punch-up between Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer during their time at Newcastle in an incident which saw both men sent off.
