The incident took place immediately after Sergi Canos had given Brentford the lead

The Football Association is investigating after two Brentford players were allegedly struck by objects thrown by Leeds supporters during Sunday afternoons’s 2-2 draw at Elland Road.

The incident happened in the immediate aftermath of Sergi Canos’ goal for the visitors, just after the hour mark in the Premier League clash.

Canos chose to celebrate his goal, which gave Brentford a 2-1 lead, in front of the home supporters, sparking an angry reaction from some of them.

The Spaniard fell to the floor after apparently being hit by an object thrown from the stands, with teammate Bryan Mbuemo also seen rubbing his head after also allegedly being struck.

Leeds had taken a first-half lead over Brentford thanks to Tyler Roberts but an equaliser from Shandon Baptiste and Canos’ goal saw them on course for a home defeat. However, Patrick Bamford, on his return from injury, was able to salvage a point for Marcelo Bielsa’s team as he steered home a stoppage time equaliser with his thigh.

After Bamford’s leveller, Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta was also captured in a furious confrontation with one of the club’s supporters.

Although not clear what was said, Orta can be seen pointing and gesticulating wildly in the direction of a fan in the video below, as well as holding his finger to his lips on several occasions.

Leeds’ draw leaves them 14th in the Premier League and follows their last-gasp victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in midweek.
