The English Football Association (FA) have written to Harvey Elliott for his 'observations' after he was seen handling a red smoke flare at the Carabao Cup final. Liverpool defeated Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday to overtake Manchester City as the most successful team in EFL Cup history, with the Reds winning 11-10 in a dramatic penalty shootout. After a goalless 120 minutes, all 11 players from both sides were required to take a spot-kick after a flawless display of penalties forced the shootout into sudden death. The 18-year-old replaced captain Jordan Henderson in the 79th minute and calmly converted his spot-kick in the shootout. He has missed over three months of football with an ankle injury he suffered against Leeds in September, but returned to action quicker than expected.
