An extra-marital dating company has offered to sponsor a football club owned by Gerard Pique.
Ashley Madison has approached FC Andorra – the Segunda División club owned by the ex-Barcelona and Spain legend – about a potential partnership.
Piqué is rumoured to have cheated on his long-term girlfriend, singer Shakira, with the popstar alluding to his alleged infidelity in the lyrics of her latest tracks.
Now the extra-marital dating site has contacted Piqué to offer FC Andorra a one million Euros a season deal to have the company’s name on the club’s shirts, branding on the team’s training equipment and bus, as well as presence on its social media profiles.
The tongue-in-cheek offer also includes a 50,000 Euros bonus for each player about whom a story having a non-monogamous relationship is published in the media.
Christoph Kraemer, Managing Director Europe for Ashley Madison, said: “Former world champion Gerard Piqué is one of the best-known Spanish footballers internationally and has been the majority owner of FC Andorra for some years.
“Under his guidance the club has enjoyed an impressive run of successes. We know from our research that many of Ashley Madison’s members are also huge soccer fans.
“It appears that Mr. Piqué has led a non-monogamous lifestyle, at least as reported by the world’s media and in his ex-Shakira’s last few songs. A sponsorship of FC Andorra is, therefore, consistent with our brand values.
“As a brand we believe that non-monogamy should be lived without prejudice. It is for this reason that we are convinced that this sponsorship would be mutually beneficial.”
