Everyone noticed the same thing about Jose Mourinho’s strangely familiar outfit last night

Did you notice it? It's not a good sign...

JOE

Well this explains a lot.

Manchester United’s rousing 4-1 thrashing of CSKA Moscow in the Russian capital on Wednesday night was another clear indicator that they’re finally back. Since Sir Alex Ferguson hung up his hairdryer in 2013, the Old Trafford outfit have looked a pale imitation of the footballing superpower they once were.

But in Jose Mourinho’s second season at the club, they’re starting to look a serious outfit again, and their Champions League win this week was just another example of things beginning to click. Romelu Lukaku can’t stop scoring, Anthony Martial is dazzling with his silky skills, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan is finding his feet with regular goals and assists.

If that’s good news for United fans, it’s bad news for everyone else. As much as the club are adored by millions of followers the world over, they’re perhaps the most hated club in the world – and they wouldn’t have it any other way. This growing sense of the empire striking back was cemented by Mourinho’s ominously familiar outfit in Russia too.

He was wearing an unusual looking black jumper, and everyone watching had the same thought – Jose was just a shiny helmet away from turning into Star Wars super villain Darth Vader. In more ways than one, it is strangely apt…
