The post was quickly deleted

Everton had a moment to forget on social media after they accidentally leaked a video announcing the arrival of new signing Rúben Vinagre before they were officially allowed to confirm his arrival.

The original video – which had been deleted – appeared to show Vinagre wearing the club’s home shirt and signing his contract, however it was swiftly removed by the club’s account.

Fans were quick to react to the mistake

Despite deleting their post, many on social media still managed to capture the video and shared it around to leave the Toffees red-faced and other supporters laughing at their mistake.

“Club haven’t even announced him and the first interview has been leaked. Everton that,” said one fan.

How am I seeing this on different Twitter accounts when it hasn’t even been announced on the official @Everton account!?  Never change!”

The club have since officially confirmed the signing and re-uploaded the video.

Vinagre says ‘it’s a dream come true’ to join Everton

Vinagre has joined on a loan deal from Sporting Clube de Portugal until the end of the season and within the video, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back explained his decision to join Frank Lampard’s side.

“It’s an amazing club – for me it’s a dream come true to join a big club like Everton, [who are] historic in England. It’s a dream!” he said.

“I know Everton are interested, and when my manager told me I already said ‘I want to go’ because Everton is a very big club.

“‘It’s [the reasons behind the move] the opportunity to play with very good players, very good coach, and these things together.”

Vinagre is Everton’s second signing of the summer after they brought in James Tarkowski on a free transfer. The club are also in talks with Burnley to sign Dwight McNeil.
