Eric Dier has a chilling message for Ander Herrera after their clash at Wembley

More Danny Dyer than Eric Dier

Eric Dier was not a happy bunny following England’s meeting with Spain on Tuesday night.

Not only had he been unable to prevent his side from snatching a draw from the jaws of victory, he was also quite clearly pissed off at being allegedly clocked on the cheek by an Ander Herrera elbow.

The Spurs midfielder was seen scampering after Herrera following the incident, making the Manchester United man aware that he was less than impressed at what had just happened. The pair also exchanged wagging fingers at the full-time whistle, before Dier spoke to the media about the incident.

“I don’t mind people kicking each other at times and stuff but that’s just dirty and not needed,” the 22-year-old explained.

“He’s elbowed me in the face and I just can’t see why. For me, it’s just ridiculous.

“He’s saying he didn’t do it, but I think it’s pretty clear. It’s just football. These things happen. But I don’t know why he did it, to be honest. That’s why I was angry.”

Dier and his Spurs teammates will face Manchester United at Old Trafford on December 11. Dier didn’t need reminding of this.

“I don’t need him to apologise. I’ll see him soon.”

You’ll “see him soon,” eh? More Danny Dyer than Eric. Proper hard-man stuff.

It’s all well and good talking like this Eric, but don’t forget there are other, bigger Manchester United midfielders that know a thing or two about using the elbow…
