The investment group says it is in contact with Companies House.

An English football club's parent company has been threatened with liquidation, with the investment group which owns the club has since said that it is in contact with Companies House after receiving a compulsory strike-off notice for failing to submit accounts on time.

Velocity Capital (UK) Holdings, the investment arm of ALK Capital, who own Burnley Football Club, received the notice, dated for November 3 2026.

The club's debt increased from £30m to £142m in a 12-month period, according to its latest accounts from July 2025.

"We are aware of the notice issued by Companies House and are taking the necessary steps to resolve the matter," an ALK Capital spokesperson said.

"Our company secretarial advisers are in direct contact with Companies House, and we are working closely with our external accountants and auditors to finalise the outstanding accounts.

"We expect to make the necessary filings in the coming weeks and remain fully committed to bringing our reporting obligations up to date as quickly as possible."

A strike off may see the company removed from the Companies House register, thereby ceasing to be a legal entity.

ALK Capital bought the Lancashire club in 2020 as part of a leveraged takeover, with a loan of £65m from investment company MSD, which has been refinanced since.
