England launch new away kit ahead of first international break of the calendar year
Say goodbye to the more traditional red...

Who knows, 15 months from now, perhaps this will be the kit that Gareth Southgate's England players will wear as they seal another highly embarrassing major tournament exit?

With the first international break of the calendar year nearly upon us, Nike have released the first images of England's brand spanking new away kit, a kit that will have its first airing when the Three Lions face Germany in Dortmund on Wednesday.

To recognise Wayne Rooney becoming his country's all-time leading scorer last year, the FA have ditched the more traditional red away strip in favour of a navy one, almost certainly a nod to that time he got a red card in Montenegro.

Yeah, we made that bit up.

Modelled by Marcus Rashford, it's very clear England are doing their best to look to the future with the launch of this kit. The Manchester United youngster posted an image of it on his official Instagram account and reflected on Wayne Rooney's words of motivation that immediately followed their Euro 2016 disaster at the hands of Iceland.

As well as this, he reminded England fans that this is a very young England squad, with plenty of opportunities to let their nation down ahead of them.
