Eddie Hearn reacts to footage of Tony Bellew headbutting him

He says he didn't even feel it

That had to hurt.

One couldn’t help but get excited by Anthony Joshua’s thrilling victory over Wladimir Klitschko last April but there were few more impassioned than Joshua’s Matchroom stablemate Tony Bellew.

Despite the fact that they both compete in the same division, Bellew was made up for ‘AJ’ after he put an end to the back-and-forth clash at Wembley with a tenth round stoppage against the Ukrainian legend.

Footage has emerged this weekend of Bellew’s immediate reaction to the win and the Liverpudlian clearly left his mark on his promoter as they embraced in celebration.

With Eddie Hearn in the ring and ‘Bomber’ stood on the apron, there was a nasty looking clash of heads which, to be fair to Hearn, he dealt with well.

In spite of a glimmer of a grimace on the face of the Matchroom boss, Hearn responded to the video by insisting he didn’t even feel the impact at the time.

While Bellew was the aggressor in the above embrace, it was Hearn who tried to get his hands on the fighter after he’d stopped arch-rival David Haye a month earlier.

As Hearn rushed the ring to hug Bellew, he was shoved away as Bellew didn’t want to celebrate the downfall of a fellow professional, regardless of their feud.
