“They say karma is a bitch. I think it’s a mirror”
Dustin Poirier has now had his hand raised aloft for the second time in six months after twice going toe-to-toe with Conor McGregor.
The former UFC lightweight champion is now in line for a title shot against current strap-holder Charles Oliveira after a doctor’s stoppage win over McGregor. Poirier was leading on all three judges’ scorecards [10-8 on two] when McGregor snapped his ankle, right as the round finished, and could not continue.
The Louisiana native was interviewed by Joe Rogan in The Octagon, after the fight, and had to be dragged away from a verbal slanging match with the stricken McGregor.
In his post-fight breakdown with Rogan, Poirier revealed when he felt McGregor did the initial damage to his ankle.
“He fractured it on one of the checks, at the beginning of the fight. And it broke on the punch [at the end of the round] for sure, yeah.
“When I pointed at him, at the start of the fight, after I checked a good kick. I bet that’s when it cracked. I felt something.”
You can see from the short clip [below] that Poirier points to McGregor’s foot after checking his kick.
‘Kiss my full asshole!’
Rogan reasoned that it made sense that McGregor did the initial damage there, and the full fracture came when he landed back on it after throwing a punch at the end of the round.
The snap itself was a grim watch as McGregor hollered in pain as he stepped back.

“It was probably cracked and then the twist of the punch finished it,” said Dustin Poirier.
While McGregor, as he was getting treated, declared he was not finished with Poirier yet, and would fight him on the street if he had to, ‘The Diamond’ made his way from The Octagon.
He had earned the respect of a partisan crowd that had been baying for a McGregor win. For anyone that did not give him his dues, he declared, “You can kiss my full asshole!”
