Dominick Cruz has outlined how he would take out Conor McGregor in super-fight

One of the greatest minds in MMA

Everyone from bantamweight to welterweight wants a shot at ‘The Notorious.’

It’s not surprising, given the payday that accompanies standing opposite Conor McGregor, that his name is on the lips of so many fighters across an expanse of 35lbs.

The reigning featherweight champion takes on Eddie Alvarez next as he attempts to become the first man in UFC history to hold a belt in two different weight divisions simultaneously.

Super-fights are taking precedence over traditional title fights made on ranking-based contention and it certainly makes for fan-friendly viewing.

UFC 202: Diaz v McGregor 2

Up to now Nate Diaz has been the only man able to figure out the McGregor puzzle in the UFC but bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz believes that he too knows how to overcome the Irishman.

Cruz, one of the brightest analysts currently covering MMA in between his own bouts, has been praised for his ability to break down fights and this weekend he boldly claimed he would defeat ‘The Notorious’ at either 145lbs or 155lbs.

“Everybody’s calling out McGregor so I don’t want to be another guy because everybody wants that fight,” Cruz said on the Fox broadcast of UFC 204.

“But the thing is that McGregor’s picking his own fights so that’s not up to me, that’s not up to the UFC. That’s up to McGregor.

“Now I know as much as McGregor and more about this sport than anybody and it seems that the only way to beat McGregor is with your mind. I know I can do that.

“I know I can also technically beat him and I know at 145lbs that I’m extremely fast and hard to deal with.

“I can beat McGregor, absolutely, and I would love to fight him at 145lbs or 155lbs if he wins the title. I don’t care, I’m the champion, and my style is built for moving up in weight class because I don’t take damage.”
