Divock Origi reveals what Klopp said to him before scoring crucial winner

Divock Origi has revealed what Jurgen Klopp said to him before he scored a dramatic late winning goal against Wolves on Saturday.

The Reds went into the game knowing that a win would send them temporarily top of the league after Chelsea’s surprise defeat at West Ham earlier in the day.

Klopp’s men had a number of chances in the match – including Diogo Jota’s astonishing miss against his former side – but they were unable to break Wolves down and it appeared as though the game was heading for a 0-0 draw.

However, substitute Origi, who had replaced captain Jordan Henderson in the 68th minute, found some space on the edge of the six-yard box, controlling Mohamed Salah’s pass and firing beyond Jose Sa in the fourth minute of added-time.

The Belgian has scored a host of memorable late goals during his career on Merseyside, with his winner in the Merseyside derby nearly three years ago and his heroics during the run to Champions League success in 2019 never far from the lips of Liverpool fans.

Origi – who came close to leaving Anfield in the summer – has revealed what his manager said to him as he was preparing to come on, with the German’s message clear and obvious.

Divock Origi has just told one interviewer that Jurgen Klopp simply told him to "go out and be Divock" before sending him on at Molineux. Job done, I'd say.

“Go out and be Divock”, said the striker when he was asked what Klopp told him as he brought him on.
