Dillon Danis clears up nonsense rumour of Conor McGregor getting knocked out in training

Great to get this particular rumour cleared up.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Dillon Danis was brought in to help McGregor prepare for his UFC 202 rematch with Nate Diaz. His work with The Notorious has been lauded by the fighter and his team so it is no surprise to see him feature in the UFC 205 training camp. Danis has been pushing McGregor to, and beyond, the brink. So have his other coaches and sparring partners. Still, it came as a surprise to the New Jersey native when he read stories and tweets about McGregor getting knocked out cold in training. In an interview with Submission Radio, Danis debunked this tattled tale. He said:

"It was funny because that day [in question] was actually his rest day. He wasn't even in the gym. "It was a stupid rumour and it came out of nowhere and it really didn't happen at all. Not even anything close to that happened. I don't even know where that came from. It's crazy; that was completely fake."

McGregor knows Alvarez will 'fight with his heart' but he is not expecting any major shocks for his UFC 205 lightweight title decider. "For this one," he revealed last Friday, "we've gone back to 5'7" stocky, stuffed wrestlers with mediocre boxing." Alvarez' ground game is excellent. He made a name for himself in Bellator with some brutal submission victories but has yet to make an opponent tap since hitching his wagon to the UFC. Still, once he gets you to the mat he will do some serious damage. Danis believes Alvarez will seek to slow down McGregor's tempo. He has also offered his predictions for the fight. He said:

"If Eddie tries to come in and wrestle, that's fine. We're prepared for anything. "Conor is going to be hitting him from everywhere. It's a different game when you are trying to take someone down over and over again and you are panicking at the stand-up, because obviously Conor is way better at the stand-up. "So he is going to be panicking to take him down to the ground. It is a tiring situation to be in, especially when Conor is hitting you from everywhere. I have a feeling he won't be ready for that."
