Diego Maradona will have to undergo emergency surgery after a scan revealed a bleed on his brain, Argentine media are reporting.
The footballing icon was admitted to hospital in the Argentine city of La Plata last night just days after his 60th birthday.
Maradona's doctor provided an update earlier on Tuesday, saying "He's better than yesterday, the idea is for him to stay [in hospital] one more day. He's anemic and a little dehydrated."
But new reports claim doctors have discovered a subdural hematoma which requires emergency surgery, which will take place immediately.
At the time of writing Maradona is being transferred from a clinic in La Plata to an operating theatre where the surgery will take place.
