Dejan Lovren speaks out after West Ham nightmare

Tom Victor

Dejan Lovren’s performance against West Ham probably wasn’t his worst in a Liverpool shirt, but it was down there.

The Croatian was at fault for the visitors’ second goal and was generally run ragged by Manuel Lanzini as the Reds slipped to their first home defeat against the Hammers in more than 50 years.

Lovren has broken his silence on the display, saying he wanted to “hide under the table” after the loss.

“I tried everything but what can I say? It was a bad decision by me and mistakes happen,” he said.

“Of course for the first minute after the second goal I wanted to go under the table. What can I do?”

Part one of his grand plan is well underway – the closer Liverpool are to the bottom of the table, the easier it will be for him to hide underneath it.
