The 30-year-old French winger has been on trial at Sunderland, after being released by Villa at the end of last season, and scored the winning goal in a friendly win over Rotherham last Saturday.
Moyes was in attendance at the game, and has offered the player a contracted, after reportedly receiving a positive report on N'Zogbia from his predecessor Sam Allardyce.
If the former Everton manager sought a reference from Villa fans, the view on the winger would undoubtedly be a lot different. N'Zogbia joined the recently relegated club from Wigan Athletic in 2011, costing £9.5m, and rarely showed any form to justify his price tag.
The former Newcastle United winger only played twice in the Premier League last season as Villa were relegated.
