David Luiz has some bad news for Liverpool fans about Philippe Coutinho

You've been warned...

David Luiz has spoken.

The PSG defender has warned Liverpool that they risk losing Philippe Coutinho if they miss out on a top four spot this season.

Luiz is reportedly good friends with his Brazilian compatriot, Coutinho won’t hang around if Liverpool aren’t in the Champions League, and will become “the most in-demand player in Europe next summer.”

He said: “Coutinho made the choice to stay at Liverpool without Champions League football this season. I don’t think he will make that choice again.

“The best need to be playing with the best. Coutinho is the best midfield player in England right now. That is great for him, but when you play at that level the big clubs will notice you.GettyImages-483494094

“If Liverpool don’t qualify this season for the Champions League, I am sure he will be the most in demand player in Europe next summer.”

Coutinho, who has 12 caps for Brazil, joined Liverpool from Inter Milan in 2012. The departure of Luiz Suarez, and Daniel Sturridge’s fitness issues, has meant the 23-year-old has developed into the side’s key attacking player.

Is Luiz right? Would Coutinho be willing to remain at Anfield if Liverpool miss out on a place in Europe’s top club competition?

Either way, we doubt the defenders reference to “big clubs” noticing Coutinho will go down well with Liverpool fans.
