David Beckham has slammed MLS rivals Minnesota United, telling them to "show a little respect" following social media posts from the club.
Saturday saw Beckham's Inter Miami suffer a 4-1 defeat to Minnesota, which is the heaviest defeat they have suffered since the arrival of Lionel Messi in July of 2023.
It was their fourth defeat in their last five games in all competitions.
Afterwards, Minnesota took to social media to celebrate their win by posting a picture from the match with the caption: "Pink Phony Club", which is reference to Inter's kit colour and Chappell Roan's song 'Pink Pony Club'.
Along with the tongue-in-cheek caption, they added a picture of the league table showing themselves climbing abover Miami.
This led to former England captain and Inter co-owner, Beckham, to comment underneath one of the posts.
He wrote: "Show a little respect, be elegant in triumph."
Minnesota fired back with a picture of a banner from the game that read: "History over hype, culture over cash", with the words "hype" and "cash" highlighted in pink.
Ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid star Beckham replied once more, this time commenting: "Respect over everything."
Inter find themselves fourth in the MLS Eastern Conference and were knocked out of the semi-finals of the Concacaf Champions Cup.
Along with Messi, they feature several Barcelona alumni such as Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
Former Liverpool and Barca midfielder Javier Mascherano has been the team's manager since November.
They will also feature in this summer's FIFA Club World Cup, which will be played in the USA from June 14 to July 13.
The tournament, which has been expanded to 32 teams, will feature European giants such as Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, PSG and Chelsea.
While Messi will be playing at the tournament, Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr miss out due to only one spot being reserved for a Saudi Pro League team.
Instead, Al-Hilal will represent Saudi Arabia after they won the league last season.
Al-Hilal boast a squad including former Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves, ex-Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly and former Man City fullback Jao Cancelo.
