A reminder that he's more than just a celebrity or a haircut
Given that David Beckham is now an international celebrity away from his sporting career, it's easy to underestimate just how good he was as a footballer. Not just at international level (see thatgoal against Greece), but also at club level where he was an integral part of Alex Ferguson's '99 Champions League winning squad.
So, of course, he was among the many legends playing the Manchester United's squad against former Bayern players on Sunday in a re-run of their late 90s final at the Nou Camp (re-located to Old Trafford on Sunday).
When he wasn't pinging the ball back and forth across the pitch with Scholes, Beckham also found time to put it in the onion bag in the latter stages of the match.
The goal came just before the final whistle and gave the Stretford end something to celebrate in 2019 at last.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Dwight Yorke, Nicky Butt, Louis Saha also all scored to give the Red Devils a 5-0 win in the game. But you can watch Beckham's effort here...
