David Beckham has predicted an England vs Argentina World Cup final

He reckons we’re going to see Harry v Messi…

Step aside Paul the Octopus, Golden Balls himself has spoken out about his prediction for the World Cup final and England fans will be pretty pleased with what he has to say.

The 43-year-old former England captain has tipped England to make it all the way to the final, where he reckons that they will meet Lionel Messi’s Argentina squad.

“I believe Argentina will play against England in the final,” Beckham told a crowd in China. “I think obviously my choice would be England to win the competition, but that’s me being biased and passionate about my country.”

The World Cup draw means that if Argentina are to play England, it will be in the semi-finals or final, so Harry Kane’s side will have to exceed all expectations in order to meet Messi’s men at the tournament.

As you’re probably aware, Beckham has history with the South Americans having been sent off in the 1998 World Cup quarter-final after lashing out Diego Simeone – leading to one of many failures at major tournaments from England’s ‘Golden Generation’.

Beckham had positive things to say about the current England team, who find themselves less weighed down by expectations, however, he warned that the games would get more difficult as they progressed.

“I’m very happy that we won the first game in the group,” he said. “England is a very young team, they don’t have a lot of experience yet and the journey of the World Cup will become harder and harder because there are many good teams in the tournament.”
