Despite firm interest from Manchester City and Liverpool in the summer, 90min report Alaba's desire to play in Spain saw him focused on a move to either Barcelona or Real Madrid.
With a swicth to LaLiga failing to materialise, the same report adds that a source close to the player had indicated that Alaba was now open to a move to the English top flight.
Pep Guardiola, assuming he remains at Manchester City, has already managed Alaba during his tenure at Bayern. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp knows all about him from his time at Borussia Dortmund, while Thiago Alcantara made the move from Bayern to Anfield in the summer. As a boyhood Arsenal fan, a switch to London may also prove tempting.
Alaba will be able to negotiate deals with other clubs as soon as January, though a recent report from Sky suggested he would only focus on his future after the winter transfer window had closed.Explore more on these topics:
