Curtis Jones has brought his 16-year spell with Liverpool to an end, leaving the club he joined as a nine-year-old to sign for Inter Milan.
The 25-year-old midfielder has agreed a contract with the Serie A champions that will keep him at the club until 2031, with Liverpool accepting a package worth €35m (£30m).
The deal consists of €30m (£25.7m) upfront, with another €5m (£4.3m) available in add-ons, according to BBC Sport.
Inter had already tried to bring Jones to Italy earlier this year, but Liverpool rejected a January loan proposal that included the possibility of a permanent transfer. Their next approach came in June, when a verbal offer of €25m (£21.7m) was also turned down.
Liverpool were looking for around £35m for their academy graduate, particularly with only a year remaining on his contract. The club later made it clear that a package similar to the £30m Inter paid Tottenham for Djed Spence would be enough to complete the deal.
Jones now leaves after spending most of his life at Liverpool, with the move marking another major departure from the club during this summer's transfer window.
"It’s a club that I’ve wanted to join for a while now so I’m excited," Jones said. "I’m a Scouse kid who came all the way through but I’m at a point now when I want to take the next step and I think this is the perfect club."
Jones departs Liverpool having made 228 appearances for the club, after making his senior debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019. His final season saw him feature 49 times, although only 18 of those appearances came as Premier League starts, with the midfielder unable to secure a regular place in Arne Slot’s starting XI.
Reflecting on the move, Jones said on Instagram: "After 16 years, it’s time to say goodbye. I came here as a kid with a dream, and I’m leaving having lived it."
The move also makes Jones the third English player to join Inter this summer, following John Stones and Djed Spence.
