Crowd trouble mars incredible title bout on Frank Warren card in Essex

"You came here to watch boxing so sit down!"

Both fighters were in the zone but Johnny Garton and Gary Corcoran must have been somewhat distracted by what went on during their welterweight war on Saturday night.

Attention was drawn away from the ring in what was an unforgettable battle between two fighters who refused to take a backwards step.

The commentators noted that some trouble had broken out in the crowd at the Brentwood Centre and even promoter Frank Warren turned away from the sanctioned action to look at what was happening in the stands.

Farcical scenes soon followed as the MC began shouting through the venue’s PA system while Garton and Corcoran did their best to stick to the job at hand.

“You came here to watch boxing so sit down!” came the increasingly desperate cries before threats of prosecution followed.

But the unseemly scenes continued over several rounds before police and event security managed to calm the situation down.

Garton eventually got his hand raised by stopping Corcoran in the penultimate round, with both men drenched in blood.

The Londoner walked away with the Lonsdale belt at 147lbs and vowed to give some lesser known challengers a title shot after his stablemate Bradley Skeete agreed to vacate the title to allow him to fight for it.
