Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Juventus wasn’t what any football fan expected to see this summer, even when he spoke after the Champions League final, hinting at a move away.
We all thought it was another ploy to get more money out of Real Madrid, but it turns out he was serious. Either that, or like in Friends when Chandler told Janice he was moving to Yemen, and then actually had to board a plane to Yemen, Madrid called Ronaldo’s bluff and Ronaldo then had to move to avoid the embarrassment of a u-turn.
Either way, the transfer shook things up. Juventus may now have a genuine shot at winning the Champions League, just after Gianluigi Buffon leaves, and Real Madrid are entering a post-Ronaldo era.
The incredible nature of the transfer has attracted so much attention from around the globe, that Ronaldo’s Instagram post announcing his arrival in Turin broke records, as it became the fifth most liked picture on the platform of all time.
