The home fans were in such a state of awe that many gave him a standing ovation; something Ronaldo cites as one of the reasons he decided to join the club.
"It was the best goal in my career so far," he said when he was unveiled as a global ambassador for streaming service DAZN.
"It was an unbelievable moment.
"And, of course, when the people start to applaud me in the stadium I was like, 'wow'.
