‘PCR is bull****’

Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his fury at receiving another positive test result from his latest COVID-19 test, commenting on his own Instgram post: “PCR is bullshit.”

The comment has since been deleted.

The post’s original caption read: “Feeling good and healthy!” Forza Juve.”

Ronaldo then added the controversial comment which was swiftly removed, presumably by his social media management team.

The comment was up for at least 10 minutes and received over 2000 likes from his followers.

Many experts in the field have been angered by Ronaldo’s misguided comment. As one of, if not the most famous and influential athlete in world sport, he has been criticised for undermining one of the most effective forms of testing as the world attempts to get to grips with the deadly virus.

Ronaldo is understandably frustrated to be missing out on Juventus’ first two Champions League fixtures of the season, having contracted the virus while on international duty with Portugal.

The Bianconeri will be without their star player as they face Barcelona in a game that would have been Ronaldo come up against Lionel Messi in the Champions League for the first time since 2011.
