This is just savage
Football clubs’ Twitter accounts are mostly quite sanitised. Bar the occasional orchestrated joke with another club’s account or asking fans what photographs they want to see, it’s largely pretty dull content. Their TikTok accounts, however, are off the hinge. TikTok seems to be a no holds barred platform. The whole point of TikTok is to entertain rather than inform, I suppose, so this shouldn’t be a surprise, but the lengths some club’s social media teams go to on there to body other teams is astonishing. It’s fantastic.
The latest example comes from Crewe Alexandra, who took the opportunity to mock the uncharacteristically dismal form of their neighbours Liverpool, despite being two divisions below them in League One.
The TikTok shows Divock Origi missing a gilt-edged chance at Anfield, displaying the text: ‘English teams that have scored more home goals than Liverpool in 2021… Ready?’
It then lists all of them – there are too many for me to list, it’s easy if you just watch the video.
@crewealexfcNo, we’re not joking! Tag your team in the comments if they’ve outscored Liverpool! ? #football #soccer #liverpool #funny #goal #montage♬ original sound – Crewe Alexandra FC
The music accompanying the video comprises one of the most baffling but brilliant mash-ups used on the app. Everyone remembers Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP – We No Speak Americano, the song the lads in the Inbetweeners movie dance to, badly. But nobody would have thought it would work so well mashed up with Heads Will Roll by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. But there we go.
