Dario Benedetto missed two penalties in the Copa Libertadores
Corinthians added extra salt to the wounds of Boca Juniors striker Dario Benedetto following his two missed penalties in his side’s Copa Libertadores defeat by gifting him a membership card.
A night to forget for Benedetto
Benedetto missed spot kicks in both normal time and during the shoot-out as Corinthians booked their place in the quarter-finals of South America’s biggest club competition.
The forward’s first penalty hit the post as he looked down at the ground in frustration while the ball was cleared away, presumably to blame the standard of the pitch.

His second miss in particular raised eyebrows as he blazed it way over the bar and into the stands at La Bombonera, leaving the Brazilian side to go on and win the game 6-5.

To make matters worse for him, he also missed a sitter during the game. Suffice to say the 32-year-old won’t be asking for the DVD of his performance against Corinthians for Christmas this year.
Grade-A shithousery
Corinthians weren’t quite content with securing their place in the last eight of the tournament though, and wanted to pay tribute to Benedetto’s ‘memorable’ display.
The club tweeted a picture of a membership card, which can usually be bought by supporters, featuring the Argentine’s face on it as they thanked him with a simple message of ‘Gracias!”

Fantastic shithousery, which is only likely to fuel the fire whenever these two teams next meet in the Copa Libertadores.
Corinthians’ win means they will are now four games from a place in the final, and will play their two-legged quarter-final fixtures in the first and second week of August.
