Conor McGregor makes presence felt as he crashes UFC 223 media day

Nobody expected to see him

Things just got interesting.

UFC President Dana White claimed that Conor McGregor wouldn’t be in attendance at UFC 223 in Brooklyn this weekend, despite the fact that two men will be fighting for his lightweight title.

Undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov will take on late replacement Max Holloway for the UFC’s 155lbs belt and nobody expected McGregor to be in the arena.

‘The Notorious’ fired a warning shot on Thursday morning, however, when he responded to his boss’ claim that he was being stripped of his title and that the winner of Nurmagomedov vs. Holloway would be the new champion.

“The only person here who is losing a belt is Conor,” White said at a press conference on Wednesday. “Conor’s losing the belt, these two are fighting for the belt.”

Well we can expect plenty of drama in the build-up to Saturday night because, in true McGregor fashion, the Irishman dramatically stormed into the Barclays Centre as Thursday’s media day wrapped up.

Reporters in attendance only got a fleeting glimpse of McGregor, who had arrived to offer his support to SBG teammate Artem Lobov ahead of his preliminary card clash with Alex Caceres.

Given the fact that Lobov was involved in a hotel altercation with Nurmagomedov earlier in the week, it makes one wonder whether we’re going to see McGregor back up his training partner over the coming days by confronting his Russian rival.
