Conor Gallagher has reportedly made a decision on Atletico Madrid just one minute before a deadline he was given by the Spanish club.
The Blues previously accepted a £33million bid from Diego Simeone's men for the midfielder, however it was reported he would only leave on his own terms.
Understood he would not be training with the first team when they return from the United States, Gallagher had a decision to make.
Earlier, Enzo Maresca reportedly told Gallagher he would only be a squad player at Chelsea going into the upcoming Premier League season.
Previously a mainstay in the middle of the park under Mauricio Pochettino, the England international is loved by the Blues faithful.
Before their victory over Tottenham Hotspur towards the end of the 2023/24 season Chelsea fans unveiled a specialised banner for the player.
A player that has been at the club since a very young age, Gallagher formerly had loan spells at Charlton Athletic, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace before breaking into the first side in West London.
However, now his time at Chelsea looks to be coming to an end.
It was confirmed late last night that Gallagher has agreed personal terms with the Spanish giants and is set to become the most expensive La Liga signing of the summer.
Chelsea told the player that he would only be a squad player if he is to stay at the club, showing why the Blues bosses only offered him a 2+1 contract, which was rejected on Wednesday and in June.
There are concerns that the high-possession based style of football would not suit Gallagher, meaning he wouldn't get as many starts as last season.
As a result, the club reportedly believe that it would be a mistake financially to offer him a longer term contract.
Diego Simeone's men wanted an answer from the player by Sunday, with a decision now made and personal terms agreed.
