Winging it...

Manchester City Women’s star Toni Duggan has apologised for posing with United manager Louis van Gaal after City’s derby defeat on Sunday.

Duggan posted an Instagram image – now deleted – of herself and teammate Isobel Christiansen with Van Gaal at Manchester’s now famous Wings Chinese restaurant.

Her caption read: ‘Heyyy Louis van G!!!!! Nice to share a Wings with you…’

Since posting the image, the 23-year-old has received a number of angry messages – some offensive – criticising her for fraternising with the enemy so soon after the derby day misery.

Duggan sought to make amends by posting an apology on her official Facebook account. She described her actions as an ‘error of judgement’ and stressed her pride in representing the blue side of Manchester.
